What is your white wine preference?
White wine can vary dramatically, depending on the grapes used and regional conditions in which it is produced. The white wine selection available at Corks Out includes such greats as:
Chardonnay:
This versatile grape is produced worldwide, and the wine will usually reflect the region in which the grape is grown and the production method used. Chardonnay can be light and fresh with green apple and citrus notes, crisp and mineral-laced or velvety and buttery when aged in oak barrels.
Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris:
The light, citrusy and food-friendly Pinot Grigio is a white wine mainly grown in the Italian regions of Venezia and Alto Adige as well as Alsace and Pfalz in Germany. Meanwhile, Pinot Gris from the USA tends to have a more distinct pear flavour and an added touch of sweetness, while the Californian Pinot Grigio has a particularly heavy, intense character.
Riesling:
The classic German Riesling white wine comes with a good level of natural acidity balanced by a slight sweetness. When grown in regions such as Alsace in France and the Finger Lakes District in New York, Riesling can range from being a dry and mineral-laced white wine that works well with seafood to an incredibly sweet and floral ice wine.
We would recommend the German Schloss Vollrads Riesling Kabinett if you want a fresh and clean white wine, while the French Rolly Gassman Riesling has a slightly riper edge. Meanwhile, the Chateau de Charmes Late Harvest Riesling from Canada is rich, full bodied and fruity with notes of citrus and tropical fruit.
Sauvignon Blanc:
This grape can be grown across the globe, so the wine will usually develop aromas and flavours based on where and how it is produced. New Zealand varieties have green citrus and berry notes, while the herbaceous Loire Valley wines contains a good level of acidity and minerality. We also think that Californian versions with their sweeter tropical flavours are well worth a try.
We also stock Semillion, which can be incredibly bone dry or a sweet dessert wine when harvested late or left to develop botrytis. Intensely aromatic Viogniers also appear in our white wine selection, as well as quality bottles of Albarino and Gewurztraminer.
All of the white wine that we do have is available on next day delivery, with no minimum order. Meanwhile, we also offer free delivery on some orders and have wine case deals available on white wines; the perfect excuse to stock up on your favourite bottles.
