Viticultural Practices
Varietals:    59 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 29 % Merlot, 9 % Cabernet Franc and 3 % Petit Verdot
Appellation:    Wine of Origin Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes were sourced from carefully selected trellised vineyards in Stellenbosch. These low yielding vines contribute to an increased concentration of flavour in the wine.

Winemaking Practices
The 3 grape varieties were matured separately in 225 litre French oak barriques for about a year. Blending has ensured the balance of fruit, structure and age ability.

Colour: Deep bright clear red edge and dark ruby center.

Nose: The fruit is forward at the start, showing ripe black- and mulberry fruit. Along with the wood nuances there are also hints of subtle vanilla and spice. The wood is not overpowering but does linger in the background bringing a balance to the wine. This wine shows a balanced integration with the fruit. The wine on the nose shows a forward fruit driven entry with a rich seriousness about the experience to follow. The fruit is gentle in its presence allowing for a wonderful layered effect.

Palate: The palate delivers a rich soft full fruit driven entry. There are black cherries, blackberries and mulberries on the palate with a long lingering middle palate. The fruit is open and easily tasted. The tannins are subtle, soft and full allowing one to be able to drink the wine now yet, it will age well with the correct cellaring. With the successful and controlled use of the French barrels over a year has resulted in a balance between the acid, tannin and alcohol. This is the reason why it has the structure to hold a long lingering after taste made up of fruit at the end and the careful ripe soft tannin in the mid palate. The blend of the main varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot using the Cabernet Franc to bridge has used the features of the 2014 vintage well to see this blend become one. This wine is able to be enjoyed on its own or with one’s favourite dish. This is a wonderful wine and will only become more exciting as it ages. The balance of the blended varieties are really expressing themselves now with more to come.

Total Production: 58 Barrels
