Additional Information

Eisenhut is the highest point south of Arnold Holzer’s home village and it brims with rocky soils of Clay and gravel making the vines work that little bit harder. Because of this the vines are more enriched and delivers a better more rounded flavour. Zweigelt is the main red grape of Austria and we can tell why. Sumptuous dark fruit flavours such as Black cherries and blackcurrant give this wine an excellent fruit bias however, this all undercut with sharp dark chocolate giving you that acidity and hint of tannins at the end.

History of Eschenhof Holzer

The Eschenhof Holzer winery is located in Großriedenthal, in the Wagram wine region. Here the innovative wine maker, Arnold Holzer, draws on the unique bounty of nature, with a great deal of creativity, a distinctive style and a sense for delicious creations.

The name „Eschenhof“ comes from the oak trees that stand in front of the farmyard and the old cellar on the winery street. This is where the red wine is stored.
