This Rioja Reserva is a bright ruby-red with brick glints with rich aromas of herbs, leather and spice. Full bodied in the mouth, it is well balanced with a long elegant finish.

Drinking well now, but will develop further in bottle, a fantastic partner to roasted red meats, game and mature hard cheeses.

The Palaciega Rioja 2006 is made from grapes are carefully selected, de-stemmed, then partially crushed with a high proportion of full berries. The juice then undergoes a 15 - 20 day maceration period with pumping over being undertaken daily. A controlled fermentation follows at between 24 -28º, using both native and selected yeasts. The wine spends 2 years in medium toasted American oak casks which contribute spicy aromas and flavours. The wine was further aged in bottle.

I've tried hard to find a decent reserva rioja at this price. Finally something worth buying. Don't get the £7 stuff from the co-op it will only be a waste spend a little extra and get so much more. Great wine!
