This Crusted Port, literally throws a crusty sediment. It is vintage Port in style, but not in price. It has multiple layers of spicy, figgy, prune-like depth with cloves and cinnamon and orange peel and nuts and it just goes on and on and on and on…
As a port house, Niepoort enjoy an unparalleled reputation for tradition . It may surprise some onlookers, then, to see Dirk Niepoort at the cutting edge of fine table wine production in the Douro, treading a path which other premium shippers have felt decidedly uncomfortable about. But this is Dirk Niepoort, after all; vigneron and winemaker extraordinaire, whose passion for old vines, low yields and terroir are as applicable to table wine as they are to great port. The first commercial release of Redoma Tinto was 1991, and the press, so to speak, went wild. Dirk hasn`t looked back since, and now these wines are regarded as some of the very best in all Portugal.
