Hayman's Sloe Gin
HaymaDistillers, the longest serving family owned Gin Distiller in England, have launched a Sloe Gin to add to the Hayman’s Gin range which consists of Hayman’s London Dry Gin, Hayman’s Old Tom Gin and Hayman’s 1820 Gin Liqueur.
Hayman’s Sloe Gin is a traditional English liqueur made to a long standing family recipe that had previously only been available for private use.
Carefully selected wild English grown sloe berries are gently steeped for several months with Hayman’s Gin before being blended with natural sugar creating a rich ruby red liqueur with smooth and intense bitter sweet fruit flavours.
Sloe Berries, a type of wild plum, are the fruit of the blackthorn tree which is native to Europe and traditionally harvested in the autumn ideally after the first frosts.
This great cocktail cabinet addition can be used to make a number of classic drinks, including The Blackthorn, which first appeared in the 1800's. First, mix Hayman's Sloe Gin and sweet vermouth (2:3 parts) over ice. Strain into cocktail glasses, add a twist of lemon and serve. Whilst to make the more modern sloe gin drink; the aptly named "The Wibble" shake equal measures of dry gin, Hayman's Sloe Gin and grapefruit juice over ice. Add a squeeze of lemon and a dash of blackberry flavoured Crème de Mure liqueur. Serve in a chilled martini glassTasting Notes.
