Forget your upstart Alsatians, Alto-Adige is the spiritual home of Gewürtztraminer and Erste + Neue HQ is only a few miles from the town of Tramin that gives the grape its name.
This is a classic wine with all the sweet spice and lychee fruit that you would expect. With 6g of sugar it is no more than off dry and has beautiful balancing acidity.

I usually don't much like Gewurtztraminer because it tastes like you imagine a bittle of cheap perfume would, but this is much more restrained. It still has lovely spice and lychee flavours but not too sweet.
