An intriguingly named gin that takes it moniker from a stretch of water known as Death’s Door Passage that separates Washington Island (part of Door County) and mainland Wisconsin. The gin itself is produced on Washington Island using just three botanicals – juniper, fennel and coriander. This unique approach results in a gin that is perfectly balanced with all 3 botanicals shining through on the palate with secondary flavours of mint and citrus zest.
Using the approach you would expect from micro distillers, Death’s Door is alarmingly simple yet the end product is something that has layers of complexity on top of the up front juniper berries, spice and citrus from the coriander and a long, cool finish courtesy of the fennel. Death’s Door works perfectly in classic & contemporary cocktails yet is one of the few gins that slips down easily served simply over ice.
Death's Door is a small batch distilled gin which combines local juniper berries and botanicals to bring you layers of taste. The experience begins with a bright juniper bouquet followed by a mild middle note of coriander and cinched with the crisp, clean finish of fennel. The wild juniper berries are hand harvested from the open fields and forests of Washington Island and captured in this spirit with other Wisconsin botanicals.
