This youthful wine is made from pure Cinsault from the Bekaa Valley vineyards at around 1,000m above sealevel, using the Hochar family's philosphy of natural winemaking.
This wine is unoaked, smooth and rounded, with appetising aromas of raspberries, blackcurrants, red apple skins and hints of toasted almonds.
We would recommend serving it gently chilled. It’s would go well with spicy Mediterranean dishes (especially Lebanese ‘mezze’), seafood, roast chicken, nuts or olives.
“The Chateau Musar Jeune Rosé is a real smasher, packed out with flavours.” – Simon Hoggart, The Spectator.
Creating Chateau Musar Jeune
Gaston Hochar founded Musar in 1930 after an extended period of time in Bordeaux. He wanted to create wines similar in style to those he had experienced in the Medoc. To achieve this aim, he founded Musar in the Bekaa valley along Lebanon's eastern border, located at an altitude of 1000m. Disease free, and with long cool summer days, this valley formed a perfect environment for the growth of grapes. The estate grew to about 80 hectares growing Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, with most of the vines now around 50 years old.
Now, Gaston's son Serge has taken up the reigns of the company, winning "Decanter" magazine's first "Man of the Year" award. In any given vintage, Serge blends the Chateau Musar to reflect the strengths of a particular year, and thus the red wine can reflect Bordeaux or Rhone tendancies. Following on from the success of Chateau Musar, Serge wanted to produce a lighter, more accessible wine that still held true to these values, and so the Jeune range of wines was born. These wines are intended to be drunk much younger then the classic Chateau Musar wines, with an emphsis on vidid fruit flavours and suitability for early drinking.

What a fascinating Rosé wine, i get all the flavours in the tasting note and it is quite dry with a lovely long lasting flavour. Apart from just enjoying a glass of this in the sun, I tried it with spicy Mediterranean Mezze and it really worked. It was never overpowered; aqmazing! The next night we had it with rustic ripped up roasted chicken and a sort of pesto rice (one of Delia's!), smashing.
