The Canard-Duchene Cuvee Leonie Brut is a pale golden aspect, with a fine stream of bubbles and elegant aromas of apple, stone fruit and touch of minerality. It is stylish and velvety on the palate, with toasted brioche, peach, and cream flavours, with a long, fresh finish. Best served as an aperitif, or with seafood.

Canard-Duchêne was founded in 1868 in Ludes, a small village in Montagne de Reims. By 1890 Canard-Duchêne had even penetrated the very closed circle of the suppliers to the Court of Tsar Nicholas II, hence the two headed eagle, emblem of the Russian Imperial family, which has been present on the label ever since. The two headed eagle was soon joined by the sabre, to commemorate a tradition which is intimately linked with the House of Canard-Duchêne, that of "Sabrage" - the stylish art of opening a bottle with a sword.

In 2003, Canard-Duchêne returned to independent, family ownership, through its acquisition by the group headed by Alain Thienot. More than ten million bottles are ageing in the chalk cellars of Canard-Duchêne, which were dug by hand in the 19th century. They extend over 6 kilometres and 4 levels, between 12 and 38m deep. Canard-Duchêne stands as the only "Grand Marque" Champagne House to be situated in the middle of the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims.

This Cuvée is a tribute to the woman who jointly founded the house in 1868, Léonie Duchêne.
