Pale lemon yellow, with aromas of lime citrus and peach. Full, vibrant and zesty on the palate, with notes of citrus peel, stone fruit and minerality, with bracing acidity. Serve with fish, poultry and pork dishes.

Ca’ del Matt is a range of wines made by consultant winemaker Matt Thomson at the co-operative at Nizza.

Nizza is a model co-op and its well exposed vineyards are among the best in the Barbera d'Asti zone. In the late 1990s, they initiated a scheme where the growers on the best sites would be paid by the hectare rather than the kilo. This enables Nizza to encourage low yields and good husbandry, which is then reflected in the quality and ripeness of the fruit which arrives at the winery.

Working with the Cantina Sociale in Nizza, Matt Thomson (winemaker also for Alpha-Zeta and Delta Vineyards) selected some of their best Barbera to make the Ca’ del Matt wines. The name Ca’ del Matt means ‘madhouse’ in the Piemontese dialect, a reflection of the difficulty of making good Barbera. Given the success of the Barbera, Matt was keen to add a Cortese after coming across some excellent vineyards in Nizza.
