Loading... Please wait...Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Dark purple colour, with notes of blackberry, cassis and pencil shavings. Full bodied and well structured on the palate, with firm tannins and acidity, offering flavours of blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum fruit, with a long finish. Serve with red meats and cheeses.
The Boekenhoutskloof farm was founded in 1776 by Hugenot settlers in the Franschhoek Valley, bringing with them Mediterranean grape varieties and the knowledge of how to make fine wines. Located a scenic 40 min drive from Cape Town, the winery is the far flung reaches of the Cape wine district, but yet is still recognised as one of the finest estates in the area.
In 1993, the farm was purchased and restored by a partnership of enthusiasts committed to the future of South African wine, implementing a new vineyard planting scheme, and laying down vines of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Semillon and Viognier. Since that time, the winery has gone from strength to strenght, and now enjoys a reputation as one of the leading estates in South Africa.
