Bodegas Figuero no 12
Twelve months in barrel impart a dark red colour with blue highlights that signify good ripeness. The nose offers aromas of red fruit and berries, enhanced by sweet touches of oak and a hint of balsamic. The palate is full with red fruits and liquorice nuances. Sweet rounded tannins are balanced by a gentle acidity lending to a soft, silky smooth palate with a mineral fresh finish.
The Tempranillo grapes were hand harvested from 20 to 50 year old vines, destemmed and macerated at 12C for 2 days before a temperature controlled fermentation at 29C. A further period of 10 days maceration followed with delestage to encourage softness and fruitiness in the wine. The wine then underwent 12 months ageing in medium toasted American (85%) and French (15%) oak barrels. After fining with natural egg whites the wine was aged for two years before release.

Dense purple in aspect, with prominent aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, tobacco and vanilla, giving way to a weighty, concentrated palate of dark cherry, coffee, blackcurrant and some pepper spice, with good acidity and chewy tannins.
