Barbera d'Asti Conan 2007

Deep crimson in aspect, with aromas of dark cherry, turned earth and gamey notes of salami skin. Powerful yet structured on the palate with black cherry, dark chocolate, earthy spice and vanilla, with good acidity and a long finish. Pair with duck, pork or spaghetti bolognese. Perfect with wild boar sausages with pumpkin and parmesan mash.

The Araldica group of companies is a major force in wine growing, production and distribution based in the Piemonte region of northwest Italy. Thanks to the combination of a modern attitude towards production and marketing with a commitment to producing wines that are identifiably Piemontese, the group enjoys ever-growing international success. Araldica's Managing Director, eonologist Claudio Manera, is adamant that investment in the vineyards, as much as in other areas of the business, is vital to maintain the quality of the product.

Product Reviews

  1. Big and hairy Italian.

This wine takes no prisoners - not for the faint hearted, yet also somehow refreshing and moreish. Its sort of leathery, cherry, meaty character is really impressive - crying out for a hearty meal involving meat and mushrooms. Two of us downed this no problem with supper and felt like we were drinking 'real' wine. A far cry from the bland stuff you get in most supermarkets.
