This lesser-known grape variety originates in the Rhone valley of southern France, and is the principal constituent of the sought after wines of Condrieu. This is a truly excellent new world version from Mendoza, a great example of the variety with style and character, but none of the inflated price. It has a youthful appearance with a complex aroma of apricots, honey and tropical fruits. The palate is off-dry and quite full with a long elegant finish and good acidity balance.
A great match for pork, especially the more highly flavoured cuts – try with a classic apple sauce. Also grilled poultry or fish.
