Five years ago the renowned oenologist Michel Rolland persuaded a consortium of Bordeaux Chateaux owners to invest in a vineyard in the Mendoza region of Argentina. Among those were Hélène Garcin and Patrice Levêque, the husband and wife team behind Chateau Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol, Chateau Barde Haut in St Emilion and Chateaux Branon and Haut Bergey in Pessac Léognan. Hélène and Patrice discovered another vineyard while visiting the region and started producing Poesia in 2002 and now make some of the finest wines in Argentina. The flagship Poesia has the highest rating from Robert Parker of any Argentinean wine from the 2002 vintage.
Dense crimson in colour, with white choocolate, spice box and cigar smoke on the nose. An elegant, medium-bodied wine displaying black cherry, currant, licorice, smoke and pepper, with supple tannins and good balancing acidity. Serve with roast beef, steaks and sharp cheeses.
