After Sancerre and Pouilly, Menetou Salon is probably the most important area in the Loire. The vineyards here stretch south west from Sancerre and the wines represent excellent value compared with both Sancerre and Pouilly. They are classically styled wines, elegant and full of character. Domaine de Loye is a well-defined wine, stunning with fresh, zippy Sauvignon fruit and will easily compete with some of the more expensive Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand. Great with seafood and salads.
