key information

Clover Hill in the Pipers River region of north east Tasmania was established by Taltarni Vineyards in 1986 as a dedicated sparkling wine estate, planted to traditional sparkling varietals, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with the sole purpose of making a premium sparkling wine. Taltarni chose the 66 ha site overlooking Bass Strait as the ideal location to make a hallmark Australian vintage sparkling wine with its similar climatic conditions and growing degree days to the Champagne region of France. The property capitalises on three natural assets – a cool climate, ancient volcanic krasnozem soil, and a frost-free sheltered amphitheatre.

Clover Hill is commonly judged as Australia’s finest prestige sparkling wine. Clover Hill’s first vintage was in 1991, made from 100% Chardonnay fruit, and first released in 1994. Since 1993 the blend has evolved to include smaller proportions of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Highlighting Clover Hill’s commitment as a dedicated sparkling wine estate, the estate was awarded an inaugural 2005 Tasmanian Vineyard of the Year and served at the Danish Royal Wedding Celebrations of Princess Mary and Prince Frederick.

This Vintage sparkling wine is fermented in this bottle and aged on lees for at least three years to ensure the optimal combination of vivacity and intensity that is the hallmark of Clover Hill. On the palate, this expression is rich and soft with yeasty, nutty hints coupled with pear and apple fruit flavours. Lively and creamy, with a persistent, fine mousse.
