A responsible but rewarding January
I wouldn’t be surprised if you decided to curl up in front of the fire during the month of December with a nice glass of Red wine, the weather was appalling and kept most of us indoors.  However, I’m sure we all managed to enjoy the festivities and discovered a few treats here and there to go with Christmas dinner.  I indulged myself in a fine red Burgundy, not something I can afford very often so it was a perfect treat.

So, now that it’s January we are perhaps feeling a little guilty and contemplating a good old detox!  Well, I wouldn’t want to sway you from heading down to the gym and pounding on the treadmill for hours on end and, I certainly wouldn’t want you to maintain the party pace.  Therefore, I recommend you drink less but better quality, it’s easy to do at anytime of the year but January is a good time to start.
Corks Out has always been dedicated to responsible drinking and now offers its customers a guide on the website to search by alcohol content, just as you would grape variety or country.  This means that as people are more aware of what they drink we can help to offer you some great wines with a little less alcohol.  These wines are also available in store and all the team are happy to help you with something that can be a little lighter and a reward for all that effort you put in at the gym.

A few suggestions from me would be…
Felton Road Riesling from New Zealand at 10%
Brachetto d’Acqui Araldica Cavallino from Italy at 5%
Dr Loosen Bernkastel Lay Riesling Kabinett from Germany at 7.5%
Pewsey Vale Prima Riesling from Australia at 9.5%
Allamanda Pinot Grigio from Italy at 12%
Chateau Musar Jeune white from Lebanon at 11.5%
And, if it’s a bit of fizz you’re after to liven you up then most of our Champagne, Prosecco and Sparkling wines are between 10% and 12.5%
This just leaves me to wish you a Happy New Year and welcome you to responsible drinking.

It’s not the January Blue’s

Now, most us choose January to be the detox month, not sure if that’s because we feel guilty for over indulging a little or whether it’s just because we think we should? I always applaud the idea of drinking less but better quality, it’s easy to do at anytime of the year but January is a good time to start.

Corks Out has always been dedicated to responsible drinking and as we all become more aware of what they drink we can help to offer you some great wines with a little less alcohol.  The team are happy to help you with something a little lighter, a reward for all that effort you put in at the gym.

A few suggestions from me would be… The Brachetto d’Acqui Araldica Cavallino from Italy at 5%, this is an amazing light red wine, delicate with medium style and a hint of spriz to it.  Then we have a huge range of German wines that lighter in alcohol such as the Dr Loosen Bernkastel Lay Riesling Kabinett from Germany at 7.5% and the Villa Wolf Gewurztraminer at 11%, these are great with Chinese or Indian food. If you fancy a bit of Italian then the Allamanda Pinot Grigio or the Ancora Trebbiano are not bad at 12%.  For French you could go for our Cuvee Saint Marc white at only 11% and a great price at only £6.99 or for something a bit different the Chateau Musar Jeune white from Lebanon at 11.5%.   We have many more in store and the team will help you choose something to fit your budget and your cuisine.

And, if it’s a bit of fizz you’re after to liven you up then why not try our Prosecco Dolci at only 11.5% or the Prosecco Primo at 10.5%.  If you want to liven up your Prosecco and turn it into a Bellini then you must try our unique, exclusive to Corks Out, Senzia, it’s a Peach Liqueur that you squirt into your prosecco glass, a few sprays of this and it’s done, no hassle and one little bottle makes up to 400 Bellini’s, ‘such fun’ as Miranda’s Mother would say!!

This just leaves me to wish you a Happy New Year and welcome you to responsible drinking.

Yours in wine,
