Champagne and Sparkling Wines

We stock a wide arrange of champagnes, including vintage, non-vintage champagnes and sparkling wines such as prosecco.  We seek out interesting and unusual champagnes as well as leading brands and deliver these to you online at the best prices.

Champagne lies 90 miles north east of Paris, with 319 villages within the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC). Only sparkling wines carrying the AOC label can call themselves champagne. Only 3 grape varieties can be used to make champagne - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier. Any combination can be used, but quite often a champagne might comprise only one or two of the varieties. For example a Blanc de Blanc is made solely from Chardonnay.

  • Chardonnay grapes add finesse and elegance to the champagne and give falvours of apples and citrus.
  • Pinot Noir is evocative of fruit such as rasberries, black cherries and even currants.
  • Pinot Meunier adds spice and fruitiness. It is sllightly more acidic and is becoming more popular amongst producers because of the richness and body it provides.
