"I have not missed any of your Summer and Christmas wine tasting events since you started and before last night's event I was wondering whether you could maintain the high standard you have set over the last few years."
Paul Bowyer
Rioja is famous for its red wines, although it does make white wines. A typical red Rioja will be a mix of Tempranill, Garnacha and sometimes Graciano. Rioja wines are classified based upon the aging in oak that the wine undergoes. Crianza wines are aged for one year in oak followed by one year in the bottle before release. A Reserva Rioja must spend a minimum of three years aging before release, whilst Gran Reserva Rioja, which is only produced in the better vintages, must spend at least 5 years aging.
