"I have not missed any of your Summer and Christmas wine tasting events since you started and before last night's event I was wondering whether you could maintain the high standard you have set over the last few years."
Paul Bowyer
Ribera del Duero has emerged over the last 30 years from obscurity to challenge Rioja as the premier wine region in Spain. It is home to a number of bodegas of outstanding quality, most notable Vega Sicilia. When Ribera del Duero was granted uts DO in 1982 there were only 9 bodegas - now there are 170.
Ribera del Duero owes its success to its sub-soil is very similar to other great wine marking regions such as Priorato, and it has a microclimate at altitude with hot days and cool nights, resulting in ripe fruit whilst preserving the vivacity of the fruit. Finally, it has Tempranillo as a native grape, which produces superb, complex wines that are wonderful when young, but whihc mature into magnificant Gran Reservas. Here, we stock some of the very best Ribera Del Duoro wine.
