Vina Montes was founded in 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, all experienced hands in the wine industry seeking to produce high quality wines in Chile. The Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon quickly became recognised as one of the first high quality internationally recognised wines from Chile. 

Montes wine is still regarded as one of Chile's finest wines and their wines, primarily using Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere adn Syrah grapes conntinue to be very popular.
